Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 22, 2026
Summary
Core audio editing in AudioSnip happens entirely on your device. Your videos and audio files are never uploaded to our servers — we don't have any. AudioSnip has no user accounts and no login.
The free version of AudioSnip may show optional ads supplied by Google AdMob, and the app offers in-app purchases processed by Apple and RevenueCat. These are the only situations in which limited, non-personal data may leave your device, and they are clearly disclosed below.
What AudioSnip Does
AudioSnip is a local media editing tool. You select video or audio files that you already own or have permission to use — from your Photo Library or Files app on your iPhone — and AudioSnip extracts, trims, and enhances the audio. The source videos and the exported audio files stay on your device. AudioSnip does not integrate with, download from, or record any third-party streaming service.

Data We Collect Directly
None. AudioSnip itself does not collect any personal data, does not require an account, and does not run analytics on your editing activity. Your video files, waveform data, bookmarks, presets, and export history are all stored locally on your device.
Third-Party Services
AudioSnip uses a small number of third-party services to support the free tier and in-app purchases. Each is opt-in or strictly limited to its stated purpose:
- Google AdMob (free tier only). If you are using the free version of AudioSnip, we may display an occasional interstitial ad after a successful export, or a rewarded video that you explicitly choose to watch to earn additional daily exports. AdMob may receive limited data for ad delivery and fraud prevention, such as a device advertising identifier (when App Tracking Transparency permission is granted), ad interaction events, and basic device information. If you decline tracking via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, ads remain available but are non-personalized. Pro users see no ads and are not subject to this data flow. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
- Apple App Store & RevenueCat (in-app purchases). If you purchase AudioSnip Pro, the payment is processed by Apple under Apple's terms. We use RevenueCat to validate your entitlement and manage restore-purchases functionality. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-user identifier, your purchase receipt, and basic device/region metadata needed to verify the purchase. It does not receive your name, email, or any content you process in the app. Apple's privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy. RevenueCat's privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.
We do not knowingly transmit any of your video files, audio files, waveform data, or editing history to these or any other third parties.
International Data Transfers
Data processed by Google AdMob and RevenueCat is transferred to servers in the United States. For users located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, these transfers are made under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (for participating vendors) and/or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, as applicable. Apple operates its IAP service from Apple's regional entities (including Apple Inc. in the United States and Apple Distribution International Ltd. in Ireland).
App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
iOS requires that apps displaying personalized advertising ask for your permission via the App Tracking Transparency prompt. AudioSnip only triggers this prompt immediately before the first ad is requested — never on launch if you don't engage with ad-supported features. If you decline, the app continues to work normally; ads are simply shown as non-personalized. You can change your choice at any time via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Device Permissions
AudioSnip requests only the permissions it actually needs:
- Photo Library (Read): so you can select video files to extract audio from.
- Photo Library (Write): so you can save exported audio clips back to your library.
- App Tracking Transparency (optional): only shown if you use ad-supported features, as described above.
AudioSnip does not access your microphone, camera, contacts, location, health data, or any other sensitive capability.
Local Storage
AudioSnip stores your preferences (theme, export presets, last-used settings), your export history, bookmarks, and daily export-quota counters locally on your device. This data is not visible to us or to any third party. You can clear cached files, clear export history, or fully reset the app at any time from the Settings screen.
Data Retention
Because AudioSnip stores your activity locally, your data remains on your device until you remove it via Settings → Reset All App Data, or until you uninstall the app. We do not retain copies on servers we operate. Third-party retention is governed by the policies of the listed vendors:
- Apple & RevenueCat: purchase records are kept as long as the purchase is active plus the retention period required for tax, accounting, and fraud prevention, typically seven (7) years.
- Google AdMob: ad-delivery and fraud-prevention data are retained according to Google's retention schedule, generally no longer than is necessary for the stated purpose.
- Support correspondence: emails sent to [email protected] or [email protected] are retained for up to 24 months.
Children's Privacy
AudioSnip is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of thirteen (13) in the United States, or under the age of sixteen (16) in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland (or the corresponding age of digital consent in each EEA Member State, which may be as low as 13 or as high as 16 depending on national law). The free tier uses Google AdMob, which may collect limited data subject to its own privacy policy; AdMob's child-directed treatment is disabled because AudioSnip is designed for general audiences. If you believe a child has used the app, contact [email protected] and we will delete any local data associated with that device on request.
EEA, UK, and Swiss Residents
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the following applies in addition to the rest of this policy.
Legal bases for processing (GDPR Art. 6):
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for personalized advertising. You provide or decline consent via the in-app consent form; you can change your choice at any time via Settings → Ad Privacy.
- Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — for Pro purchase processing and entitlement validation (via Apple and RevenueCat).
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — for fraud prevention in ad-delivery and purchase-verification flows, balanced against your privacy rights.
Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, Swiss FADP): access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with your national data-protection authority. Because AudioSnip stores essentially all personal data locally on your device, most rights (including deletion) can be fulfilled immediately by you via Settings → Reset All App Data. For any other request, email [email protected]. We do not currently appoint an EEA/UK representative under GDPR Art. 27; if one becomes required, this policy will be updated.
California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the "CCPA") grants you the rights described below.
Categories of personal information collected in the past 12 months:
- Identifiers — a device advertising identifier (IDFA) via Google AdMob, only when you have granted App Tracking Transparency permission.
- Commercial information — in-app purchase transaction identifiers via Apple and RevenueCat when you purchase or restore Pro.
- Internet or network activity — ad-interaction events recorded by AdMob for ad delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention.
Source: your device. Purpose: ad delivery and measurement, purchase verification, fraud prevention. Retention: see the Data Retention section above.
Sale / sharing. We do not "sell" personal information for monetary value. We do "share" the IDFA and ad-interaction events with Google for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA. You may opt out at any time by (i) declining the App Tracking Transparency prompt or changing it in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; (ii) tapping Settings → Ad Privacy inside AudioSnip to open Google's privacy-options form; or (iii) submitting a request via the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link below. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal on this website.
Your California rights: to know, access, delete, correct, limit use of sensitive personal information, and non-discrimination. To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 45 days. You may designate an authorized agent; we may require written proof of the designation.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.
Brazilian Residents (LGPD)
If you are a resident of Brazil, the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados grants you rights similar to those described in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland section above, including access, correction, anonymization, deletion, portability, information about sharing, and revocation of consent. Data controller contact: [email protected]. You may also contact the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados (ANPD) with any complaint.
Your Rights (everywhere)
Because AudioSnip does not hold an account or centralized identifying data about you, there is generally no personal information for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf — deleting local data in Settings → Reset All App Data is the fastest and most complete action you can take. For requests directed at our third-party vendors (Apple, RevenueCat, Google), each responds to data-subject requests per its own policy; links are provided above.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy — for example, to add, remove, or change a third-party service — we will post the revised version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will be reflected in the app's release notes.
